Before you start

Welcome! Today you'll learn practical ways to help children develop confidence, resilience, and strong character. As you watch, think about one unique strength you'd like to encourage in your child this week.

The lesson

Every girl is born with incredible potential, but confidence isn't something she's simply born with—it grows through love, encouragement, challenges, and knowing who she is. In a world that constantly tells girls they need to look a certain way, act a certain way, or seek approval from others, one of the greatest gifts parents can give their daughters is a strong foundation of identity, courage, and character. True confidence doesn't come from popularity, performance, or perfection. It comes from understanding that her value is not determined by what others think but by who she is and the unique gifts she has been given. As parents, we help build that confidence through our words, our example, and the opportunities we provide for our daughters to grow. Encourage your daughter to try new things, even when she feels uncertain. Celebrate effort more than achievement and character more than appearance. When she makes mistakes, remind her that failure isn't something to fear—it's one of life's greatest teachers. Help her understand that courage isn't the absence of fear; it's choosing to do what's right even when something feels difficult or uncomfortable. One of the most powerful ways to strengthen your daughter's confidence is by listening well. Ask thoughtful questions, encourage her dreams, and create a safe place where she knows she can always share her thoughts, fears, and feelings without judgment. Your belief in her often becomes the foundation for her belief in herself. At the same time, help her develop strong character by modeling honesty, kindness, humility, perseverance, gratitude, and compassion. Character gives confidence lasting strength because it isn't dependent on circumstances or the opinions of others. Teach her that true beauty is reflected in how she treats people, how she serves others, and how she responds when life becomes challenging. As she grows, remind her often that her voice matters, her choices matter, and her life has purpose. Encourage her to stand up for what's right, include those who feel left out, and use her gifts to make a positive difference in the lives of others. This week, spend intentional one-on-one time with your daughter. Tell her three specific qualities you admire about her that have nothing to do with her appearance or accomplishments. Then ask her what dreams are in her heart and how you can help her pursue them. When girls know they are deeply loved, valued, and capable, they develop the courage to face challenges, the confidence to pursue their purpose, and the character to positively influence the world around them.
